A short biography of the artist.

 David Mather,

Born in the beautiful county of Devon England, where much of his inspiration for his paintings begin, his first indication that he had the ability to be an artist was when he was about thirteen, the David Mather sketching in Boscastleart teacher at that time gave them a still life to paint, and to his astonishment was chosen as a potential candidate to sit the  "GCE"  art examination, she then reduced the students she had selected down to five, of which he was one, and to his surprise and delight they all passed.

Art was then put aside until he joined the RAF, where in his spare time he began to paint in oils, selling to many service personnel and civilians around the areas he was stationed, but his career in the RAF came to premature end when he sustained a chronic back injury, which needed numerous surgery procedures, unfortunatly these procedures only added to the injury and left him with arachnoiditis and being partialy disabled.
From the RAF he went to work for the MOD, but was still plagued   with further surgery procedures, and further deterioration.
Trying to come to terms with this chronic pain, he decided to  teach himself the techniques of watercolour painting, and he found that losing himself into this beautiful medium was an excellent therapy which does not eliminate the pain but certainly helps, and he can through his own experiences suggest to anyone who has a painful disability, try it! you may be surprised.

Since those early days he has acquired collectors of his work from all around the world, with  private collections in the USA, Canada, Spain, Holland, Qatar, Luxembourg and the UK.

I hope you enjoy his paintings as much as he enjoys creating them.

                                                          Thankyou.
